Dearest Reader,

I would like to start off this post with a hearty, G’day! Obviously, this is because I am a proud Australian as I have been living here all my life. I am currently in my last year of Junior School and Year 6 has shot on quickly. This year, I am privileged to take on the role of Vice-School Captain. I have been incredibly proud to be chosen for my role and hope to continue with leading my school responsibly and being the person I am.

I began this blog on the 18th of June, 2011, my inspiration from my sister. If you would like to visit her blog, you can see it in the Family and Friend’s Links widget. I love blogging and after a year or so of negligence towards my blog, I have begun again!

My blog was originally called Animal Mania (for those of you who may be confused or interested), however, I have recently changed URL and site title. This update has become more relevant to the content I post as I enjoy sharing my words and descriptive writing. As well as this, I generally post about what is happening in my life and how I feel about it. I may also begin posting photographs I take over time.

My chicken with her beloved eggs.

Hence the name of my  blog (Animal Mania) prior to On A Whim, I adore creatures, great and small, I currently own a dog called Bromley (named after a street) and a lovely egg-laying chicken called ‘Chickie’. As you can tell, my naming is very original! I hope to persuade my folks to buy a farm, a few ponies, sheep, cattle, perhaps a duck pond, a cat, maybe a Sheepdog, a couple of goats, maybe a giraffe… Who knows?

Recently, I have taken to photography, especially capturing the unknown beauties of nature. Flowers, bushes, trees, animals and textured surfaces are some of the things I love to photograph. I love jamming to Taylor Swift (give me a TSwift song and I can sing the whole song through!) I am a real ’80s girl. Taylor’s new ‘1989’ album must be rubbing off on me!

Please feel relaxed in contacting me via comments! I welcome all feedback and suggestions gratefully. Thank you for visiting On a Whim!

Feel free to comment on any of my posts and have a great time exploring my blog!

Olivia, writing on a whim…

  2. I like how you explained what animal you like and also I like how you said if you have any questions comment. Last of all it was a nice blog post.

    1. Hey Saskia,
Thanks for the feedback! I don’t want to put too much information about myself, as it’s just basic cybersafety, if you want to know any specifics,
let me know, and I’ll consider putting it on, thanks!

    1. Hey Brenden,
Well, to get the quizzes (polls) as far as I know, you have to have WordPress.
So, if you have wordpress, here are the steps to follow. Go to your blog dashboard, go to the tab on the left hand side saying ‘feedback’ hover over it and it will say polls. Click on it and create a poll!!
      Thanks Brendan, Olivia

    1. Hi Brooke!
Yeah, I do love flowers, I really love cherry blossoms, they are so beautiful! To answer your question about Sydney, I suppose, yeah, it is, its home for me! It is not particularly fun, because I have been living here my whole life, but it is beautiful and it is my home! Where do you live? Is it fun living there? Send me your blog link!
      Thanks, from Olivia!

  3. Hi there Olivia,

I am your Student Blogging Challenge Mentor, Merry Beau. I enjoyed reading what you wrote for ‘All About Me’. It paints a ‘word picture’ for me.

I think you are very wise with regard to internet safety to be careful about what you say online. Well Done.

I look forward to reading more of your work over the coming weeks.

    With every good wish

  4. Hi Olivia,

nice to know you care a lot for the animals. We all should. The world will remain livable for the humans if it remains livable for the other animals. So we better love other animals for our benefit.

You too! Thanks so much… I am yet to comment on everyone else’s blogs! I applaud for doing this so early! Well, truly, my Intro page lies! I do not have (my (former) only) chicken any longer as we gave her to the neighbours! Little random fact for you too!
